jbusse.de knowledge engineering is a bureau for scientific knowledge engineering. We founded our busines in April 2010 nearby Heidelberg, Germany.
We are specialized on ontology engineering, i.e. on modeling knowledge on a semantic basis, so called ontologies.
An ontology is a formalized conceptualization, which allows for drawing conclusions from all sort of conceptual knowledge bases. You might think of an ontology as a domain specific thesaurus, which is enriched with logical rules. Such a conceptualization allows to compute,
- whether a text uses certain terms or concepts according to a given policy
- whether a database is consistent - or which datasets cause inconsistencies
- how to produce subject headings for a text - even if a text's subjects are not explicitly mentioned in the text
- which hidden relationships between single texts od data sets exist - even if these relationships only can be computed with complex rules
